History
These lands have long been inhabited by national minorities, and therefore the Chinese administration was represented mainly by military structures. It was only during the Qing Empire that this territory became part of Yunning County (永宁 县). In 1909, Yunning County was renamed Gulin.
In January 1950, the Lusian Special Region (泸 县 专区) was formed, and the county became part of it. In December 1952, the Lusian Special District was renamed the Luzhou Special District (泸州 专区). In August 1960, the Luzhou Special District was disbanded, and its administrative units were transferred to the Yibin Special District (宜宾 区 专).
In 1970, Yibin Special District was renamed Yibin District (宜宾 地区). In 1983, the city of Luzhou and the counties of Lusian, Nasi and Hejiang were allocated in a separate urban district of Luzhou. In 1985, Gulin and Xiuyun counties were transferred from the Yibin County to the Luzhou City District.
