Stylops bisalicidis

Stylops bisalicidis (lat.) Is a species of small fan-winged insects of the genus Stylops from the family Stylopidae . USA [1] . Parasites of bees of the species Andrena bisalicis Viereck ( Andrena , Andrenidae ). Paws of males 4-segmented, antennae 6-segmented with lateral processes. The head is transverse. They have sharp sexual dimorphism: male winged (2 pairs of narrow wings: front small and narrow, wide rear), females wingless worm-shaped endoparasites. The species was first described in 1918 by the American entomologist William Dwight Pierce and named after the species name of the host bee [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] . In one of the new works on the genus Stylops , during the analysis of DNA by the authors (Straka et al., 2015), it is considered as a supposed synonym of the species? = Stylops subcandidae Pierce, 1909 (in the status of “Supposed new junior subjective synonym”, which for 2018 is not confirmed by relevant specialized databases, for example, Eol.org and Strepsiptera database) [6] [7] .
