Content

Geography

It is located in the southern foothills of the Borshchyovy ridge in the valley of the Kazakovaya river, the right tributary of the Undy , 37 km northeast of the regional center, the city of Baleya .

History

It was founded in 1838 and was called Kazakovsky Stan. The appearance of the village is associated with the discovery of the Kazakovsky gold placer, which gave rise to the Kazakovsky mines. In 1907-1908, the development of the Kazakovsky gold deposit, discovered in 1883, began. There was a Kazakov hard labor prison in the village, the prisoners of which worked at gold mines, including at the enterprises of the Kazakov gold mining company, one of the leading gold miners in the region in the pre-revolutionary period. Of the well-known people, the revolutionary democrat, poet Mikhail Mikhailov , the sailors of the battleship Potemkin , the Bolshevik P. A. Amosov, and the revolutionary Grigory Kotovsky were serving penal servitude. In the spring of 1913, Emelyan Yaroslavsky proceeded through the Novotroitskaya and Kazakovskaya prison camps to the Mountain Zerentui . At the mine in 1919, the writer Nikolai Ulybin was born. During the Civil War, the Kazakov shift national gymnasium worked in the premises of the prison.

Infrastructure and Culture

In the village, the Kazakov Geological Exploration Expedition (TDAG) operates. There is a secondary school, a cultural center, a library, a rural district hospital and a post office. The main occupation of the inhabitants is agricultural production in personal subsidiary plots.

The name of the revolutionary Grigory Kotovsky is one of the streets of the village, on which in 1983 a memorial plaque was installed. Not far from the village, in the Margogonykh paddy, in 1957 a monument was unveiled at the site of the execution of partisan V.P. Podoynitsyn. In memory of the partisans who died during the Civil War in Transbaikalia, an obelisk was erected in the village. In the village is the grave of I. G. Rozhman. Before the war, he worked in the village as a dumper Semyon Melnikov , Hero of the Soviet Union.
