Odise Pascali ( Alb. Odhise Paskali }; ( December 22, 1903 , Permeti , Ottoman Empire - September 13, 1985 , Tirana , Albania ) - an outstanding Albanian sculptor. People's sculptor of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania ( Skulptor Popullit ).

In the early 1920s he moved to Italy, where he graduated from high school. There he became interested in the art of plastic, in 1924 at an exhibition in Turin he was awarded for the sculpture “Starving” and a portrait of Avni Rustemi .

In 1925, he asked the President of Albania, Ahmet Zog , to send him to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Italy. A. Zogu fulfilled his wish and gave Pascal the opportunity to study in Turin under the guidance of Eduard Rubino. In 1927 he graduated in Italy. Later received a degree in literature and philosophy at the University of Turin .

While studying there, he became the creator of the Albanian student society (Studenti shqiptar) and the journal of Albanian students in Turin.

In the 1930s, he was one of the initiators of the creation of the Friends of Art association, which was engaged in organizing folk art exhibitions in the cities of Albania. In May 1931 he became one of the organizers of the first Albanian art exhibition and the first school of painting in Tirana.

Since 1934 he lived in Tirana. In 1947-1953 he worked as a teacher at the Art Lyceum in Tirana.

In 1951, as a member of a delegation of cultural figures of Albania, he visited the USSR. In 1960 he became director of the National Gallery in Tirana.

He was awarded the Order of Naim Frasheri I degree.

Creativity

O. Pascali is the author of about 600 sculptures and monuments.

The first sculpture he created after returning to his homeland was a bust of Beethoven , whose work he admired.

One of the most famous works of Pascal is a monument to Skanderbeg in the capital of Albania - Tirana.

In 1932 he created his first monumental works - the monuments People’s Avenger (Luftëtari Kombëtar), installed in the center of Korcz and the Flag Bearers (Flamurtari) in the city of Vlore .
