Biography

Boris Novikov was born on July 3, 1917 in Moscow . He graduated from ten classes of the school. In 1937, Novikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941, he graduated from the Engels Military Aviation Pilot School. Since February 1942 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

Towards the end of the war, Captain Boris Novikov commanded a squadron of the 214th assault air regiment of the 260th assault air division of the 4th Air Army of the 2nd Belorussian Front . During his participation in the war, he made 114 sorties to attack accumulations of military equipment and manpower, inflicting heavy losses [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 18, 1945, for “exemplary performance of command missions on the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism”, Captain Boris Novikov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 8210 [1] .

He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Japanese war . After graduation, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1950, Novikov graduated from the Air Force Academy . In 1973, with the rank of Major General, he was sacked. He lived in the village of Monino, Moscow Region . He died on April 12, 1978, and was buried in the Garrison Cemetery in Monino [1] .

He was also awarded two orders of the Red Banner , orders of Alexander Nevsky and World War 1 degree, two orders of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .

Memory

  • In the village of Monino, Moscow Region, at 11, Krasovsky Street, where the Hero of the Soviet Union B.A. Novikov lived, a memorial plaque was erected.
