Biography
Born in the family of the artist, director of the Leninakan Drama Theater Artsrun Harutyunyan ( 1910 - 1994 ).
She studied in high school. Pushkin in Leninakan (graduated with a medal), as well as music school to them. Kara-Murza (diploma with honors).
In 1955 she entered the Yerevan State Medical Institute . Having finished the first course with excellent grades and passing to the second, she left the institute and entered the historical-theoretical department of the Yerevan Conservatory. Komitas .
After graduating from the conservatory, in 1962 she became a graduate student of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography at the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR , under the guidance of the outstanding musicologist Robert Atayan. In 1965 she worked as a junior researcher at the same institute. In 1969 she defended her thesis on the topic “Armenian urban folk songwriting (XIX — XX centuries)” and received a degree in art history.
While still a student at the conservatory, she worked at the same time in the secondary music schools. T. Chukhajyan and P. Tchaikovsky as a teacher of musical literature, as well as a music editor at the State Radio Committee.

She was an active participant in many activities of the society "Knowledge" .
From 1968 until the end of her life she taught at the Yerevan State Conservatory. Komitas . She taught music history courses. Since 1995 she headed the department of music history.
Since 1966 - a member of the Union of Composers of Armenia, was the chairman of the section of musicology. Since 2004, she has been the chairman of the commission for awarding the RA State Music Awards .
