Biography

Pavel Nikulin was born on December 26, 1909 in the village of Krasnoshchekovo (now Altai Territory ). In 1932, he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1937, Nikulin graduated from the Kiev Artillery School, in 1944 - the Higher Officer Artillery School. Since July 1941 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By January 1945, Lt. Col. Pavel Nikulin commanded the 1075th anti-tank artillery fighter regiment of the 5th Guards Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . On January 21, 1945, Nikulin's regiment crossed the Oder and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore near the village of Linden (now Lipki , 7 kilometers northwest of Brzeg ), repelling a large number of German counterattacks [1 ] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, Lt. Col. Pavel Nikulin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .

In 1946, Nikulin was sacked. He lived and worked at home. He died suddenly on February 25, 1951, was buried in his native village [1] .

He was also awarded two Orders of the Red Banner and a number of medals [1] .
