Born in 1950 in Levanger . At the 1972 Olympics in Munich, he won a gold medal in the individual pursuit. In 1973, he won a gold medal in the individual pursuit at the amateur world championships. In 1974 he became a professional. In 1975 he became the silver medalist of the world championship among professionals, in 1976 - bronze, in 1977 - again silver. In 1981, he completed his sports career.
