Rin (island)

Koh Rin is a small island from the group of islands farthest from Pattaya, which also include the islands of Luam Noi , Phai , Hu Chang , Klang Badan , Man Wichai , Khao and Ton Mai . The area of ​​the island is approximately 0.43 km², the coastline is approximately 3300 meters ^[1] .

Located about 16 km from the mainland and about 21 km from the Jomtien area in Pattaya . Administratively refers to the Amha Sattahip, Chonburi Province.

The island is stretched from north to south, about 1 km long. In the northern part the relief is hilly and has gently sloping rocky shores, in the southern part it is flat, on the eastern side there is a beach.

The island is covered with bushes and grasses.

Koh Rin is quite popular with tourists. A visit to the island is included in many excursions. He gained popularity due to the clean beach with fine sand and a small coral reef in the southern part of the island, suitable for snorkeling . Near the northern part of the island, vessels stop for diving ^[2] .

There is no infrastructure on the island. There is no flight connection with the mainland. You can get to the island as part of an excursion or by renting a boat. Sun beds, umbrellas and drinks should be brought with you ^[2] .

The island is controlled by the Thai Navy . It is regularly used as a training ground for military exercises. In February 2017, the military conducted raids and revealed cases of tourists entering the dangerous territory. Tour operators have been accused of not properly warning tourists about the danger ^{[3] [4]} .
