Ivan Ivanovich Selifonov ( December 23, 1922 , Beryozovka - March 7, 2019 , Kiev ) - during the Great Patriotic War - Guard senior lieutenant , unit commander of the 106th Guards of the Vistula Order of Kutuzov and Alexander Nevsky Fighter Aviation Regiment (11th Guards Dnepropetrovnen Krasnodar Order Bogdan Khmelnitsky Fighter Aviation Division, 2nd Guards Assault Aviation Corps, 2nd Air Army , 1st Ukrainian Front ). Hero of the Soviet Union ( 1945 ) [1] . Colonel (USSR). Major General of Ukraine (2008).

Biography
Ivan Ivanovich Selifonov was born in the village of Berezovka in the Ogorskaya volost of the Zhizdrinsky district (now the Zhizdrinsky district of the Kaluga region) on December 23, 1922. After completing 7 classes of Korenevskaya secondary school, he left for the city of Bezhitsa, Bryansk region, where he studied at the flying club.
Drafted into the Red Army in 1941. He graduated from the Stalingrad Military Aviation Pilot School and was sent to the 8th reserve aviation regiment. In December 1942 he entered the service of a pilot in the 814th Fighter Aviation Regiment ( 207th Fighter Aviation Division , 3rd Combined Aviation Corps , 17th Air Army , Southwestern Front). I. Selifonov made many military feats. Among them:
- On February 12, 1943, an airplane FV-189 was shot down, which flew in the area of the city of Slavyansk (Donetsk region);
- April 3, 1943 shot down a Do-215 aircraft, which flew in the area south of Kamenka (Izyumsky district of Kharkov region);
- July 17, 1943 shot down a Yu-87 plane, which flew in the vicinity of the village of Velikaya Kamyshevakha (Barvenkovsky district of the Kharkov region);
- July 18, 1943 shot down a German aircraft Me-109, which flew south of the village of Velikaya Kamyshevakha ;
- November 30, 1943 shot down a German aircraft Yu-87, which flew near the village Lyubimovka (Zaporizhzhya region);
- July 18, 1944 shot down a plane Me-109 , which flew in the area Lubov .
By May 9, 1945, the flight commander of the 106th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Guard, Senior Lieutenant I. I. Selifonov, completed 357 sorties (including 175 reconnaissance missions), conducted 32 air battles, and personally shot down 8 enemy aircraft [2] .
Participated in the Victory Parade of 1945 [3] .
Since 1974 in stock, lived in Kiev .
By a decree of the President of Ukraine dated May 5, 2008, he was awarded the military rank of Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine [4] .
Died March 7, 2019.
