Wise County is located in the United States , Virginia . As of 2010 , the population was 41,452 people. Got its name by the name of the American Congressman and General Henry Wise .

According to the 2000 census [1] , 41,452 residents of 15,968 households and 10,892 families live in the okrug. The population density is 38 people per km². There are 17,940 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of 17 buildings per km². Racial composition of the population: white - 93%, African - Americans - 5.2%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.10%, Asians - 0.30%, Hawaiians - 0.01%, representatives of two or more races - 0.90 % Hispanics made up 1.10% of the population.
Out of the total number of households , 31.80% are children under the age of 18, 50.30% of the households are married couples living together, 12.60% of the households are single women without a spouse, 31.80% households are not related to families, 27.40% of households consist of one person, 11.40% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.90.
