Cape Mertensa ( Eskim. Pynak - “cliff”) is a cape on the east coast of the Chukotka Peninsula , at the entrance to the Senyavin Strait , washed by the Anadyr Bay of the Bering Sea within the Providence District of the Chukotka Autonomous Region .

It was examined in 1828 by F. P. Litke and named after the ship's doctor who participated in the expedition [1] .
The rocky cliffs of the cape, located at the foot of Inak Mountain (371 m), are combined with the coastal low-lying grounded plains of sea terraces [2] .
On the shores of Cape Mertens nest: Bering cormorant, washing, large gulls, guillemots, chistik [3] . A small herd of snow sheep lives here.
Near the cape is a field hospital for ornithologists of the Beringia National Park [4] .
