Dmitry Vladimirovich Kalinin (born , ) is a Russian hockey player , defender of Tractor . Three-time world champion ( 2008 , 2009 , 2012 ) as part of the Russian team . Honored Master of Sports of Russia (2002).

Biography
Pupil of Chelyabinsk hockey. At the age of 15, he made his way into the main team of the local Tractor and played there for several years before leaving for the North American leagues at the age of 18. He managed to break into the NHL and gain a foothold in the composition of the Buffalo Sabers who selected him for the draft in his third overseas season. He played for Klinkov until 2008 (he returned to play in Russia only in the 2004/2005 lockout season ). After the contract with Buffalo, he played another year at the New York Rangers and the Phoenix Coyotes , and then returned to Russia, in the newly created Continental Hockey League .
The first two years after his return he spent in the Ufa “ Salavat Yulaev ”. In the spring of 2011, Kalinin helped the team win the Gagarin Cup , after which he moved to St. Petersburg SKA . On July 2, 2016, he signed a one-year contract with HC Spartak Moscow [1] . On May 1, 2019, after the end of the contract, Spartak left [2] .
Attracted to the Russian team at major international competitions. He participated in nine world championships , the World Cup ( 2004 ) and the Olympic Games ( 2010 ). In 2008 , 2009 and 2012 became the world champion.
It is among the five Russians ( Ilya Nikulin , Alexei Tereshchenko , Alexander Ovechkin, Danis Zaripov) who have won three gold medals in the World Cup [3] . At the third winning tournament in 2012, he played in the form of the national team only in the first half of the tournament, having missed the decisive meetings due to disqualification and illness [4] [5] .
