Club career
At the age of twenty-two, Wim made his debut as part of the Ajax football club. The attacker spent the first match in the championship on September 18, 1949 against the club RKH [3] . The meeting ended with the victory of Amsterdam - 1: 0 [4] [5] . In the debut season, Huys only twice entered the field in the first team [5] .
In the next three seasons, he played for the reserve of the club and occasionally appeared in matches of the first team. In the game of the 23rd round of the championship , held on May 10, 1953, Wim scored his first goal for Ajax, bringing his team victory over the club Frisia [6] . In the 1952/53 season, he spent six matches in the championship [7] .
The next season, Wim got more playing time: in twenty games he scored eleven goals, becoming the team's second scorer after Rinus Michels [8] . In total, for five years, Huys took part in 30 championship matches and scored 12 goals [3] . The last time, as part of Ajax, he entered the field on May 27, 1954 in a match with ICE [3] .
