Location
The village of Zhabki is located in the eastern part of the Yegoryevsk district, about 26 km southeast of the city of Yegoryevsk. 0.5 km east of the village flows the river Tsna . Altitude 121 m [2] .
Title
It is mentioned in 1577 as the village of Zhabki on the river Tsne, and under it the river Zhabka . Thus, the village is named after the river Zhabka . In the XIX century, the name of the village was written Zhabka (im.p., rod.p. - Zhabki). It is also possible to communicate with the non-calendar personal name Zhabka [3] .
History
In 1858, according to the X revision, the peasants of the village belonged to Lt. Col. Vyrubov Pyotr Ivanovich and Major Volkov Ivan Petrovich (already in 1861 the landowner Volkova). After 1861, the village became part of the Pochinok volost of the Yegoryevsky district. In the village there was a zemstvo school and a tavern [4] .
In 1907-1916, the stone Nikolskaya church was built [5] .
In 1926, the village was part of the Zhabkovsky village council of the Pochinok volost of the Yegoryevsky district [6] .
Until 1994, Zhabki were a part of the Pochinkovsky village council of the Egorievsky district, in 1994-2004. - Pochinkovsky rural district, and in 2004-2006. - Podryadnikovsky rural district [7] .
In January 2016, the rector of the St. Nicholas Church in Zhabki, priest Georgy Plotnikov, noted: βThe village of Zhabki itself can already be considered extinct. There are only two permanent residents in it. Zhabki revive only in the summer, when citizens come to the purchased village houses. They come to our temple β [8] .
Population
In 1885, 281 people lived in the village [9] , in 1905 - 303 people (138 men, 165 women), and 11 people in the church estates (4 men and 7 women) [10] , in 1926 - 311 people (139 men, 172 women) [6] . According to the 2002 census - 17 people (5 men, 12 women) [11] .
