Biography
Domenico Saccardo was born November 14, 1872 in the family of the famous Italian mycologist Pierre Andrea Saccardo (1845-1920).
In 1898, Domenico was invited to the post of assistant professor Fausto Morini in the Botanical Garden at the University of Bologna , in the spring of 1899 he arrived in Bologna.
In 1900, Saccardo was appointed phytopathologist at the vineyard college in Conegliano . Since 1902, he worked at the Phytopathological Station in Rome .
In 1936, Domenico Saccardo received a grant for a trip to Eritrea , which was then part of Italian Ethiopia . For the next three years he traveled around the region, studying the local flora.
Domenico Saccardo died on August 15, 1952 .
Domenico took part in writing some volumes of the fundamental summary of mushrooms, compiled by his father, Sylloge fungorum . He was also the author of an addition to the mycological part of the book by Giacomo Bizzazzero Flora veneta cryptogamica .
