In 1879, on the shores of Lake Bologoye, archaeologist P. A. Putyatin, together with archaeologist and artist N. Roerich, discovered the Neolithic site of a primitive man. The main archaeological value on the Bologovka site was the skull of a dog (Canis familiaris putiatini, Studer) aged 6-10 thousand years. This find was called the “Putyatin Dog”.
