Description
Milina is a clone of Kitana created by the sorcerer Shang Zong for the emperor of the Outer World Shao Kang . During the creation of Milina, Shang Zong used the blood of the Edenian Kitana and the blood of the Tarkatans, a race of ferocious mutants living in the wastelands of the Outer World. In the original chronology, with the help of the blood of Tarkatans, the sorcerer expected to make Milina more loyal to the emperor, but his experiment was not entirely successful - as a result of the mistake, Milina’s face was disfigured by a huge mouth, dotted with sharp teeth, like that of a Tarkatan, because of which Milina often hides her ugliness under mask. At the beginning of the series, Milina’s biggest dream was to kill Kitana and prove that she was better than the princess in everything. But after the death of Kitana at the hands of the Tarkatans and the Deadly Alliance , Milina finally took her place, fulfilling her mission, and at the same time gained control of the combined army of Eden and the Outer World. Having freed her mind from thoughts of revenge on Kitan, Milina decided to capture the Outworld herself. Her plans were not given to come true, since Shao Kan returned, together with Goro and Shan Zong, and again occupied his fortress. Milina had to give him the right to reign in the Outer World, but she did not abandon her plans to be a queen, turning her eyes to Eden. In the new chronology, Shao Kan decided to replace Kitana with Milina much later, several thousand years after the capture of Eden during a tournament in the Outer World. The fact that Milina had an ugly face did not stop the emperor from declaring her his “true daughter” and giving her the seat of the heir to the throne.
Milina is very evil and unpredictable. Its ugliness and half Tarkatan origin created an explosive combination. Sly, prudent and always ready to stab her allies in the back, Milina, like ordinary Tarkatans, is prone to outbursts of uncontrollable rage and cruelty. Together with her almost perfect appearance, not counting her lower half of her face, Milina is simultaneously a beauty and a monster. At the same time, Milina is cowardly and, if the enemy is stronger than her, she will most likely submit to his will or run away. After her debut in MKII , Milina appeared in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy . Then she returned to Mortal Kombat Gold . After a break, Milina appeared in the sixth game of the Mortal Kombat: Deception series , where she became one of the most important plot characters, and also received a new costume, becoming the sex symbol of MK . Like all the main characters in the series, Milina got into the seventh game of the series - the collection Mortal Kombat: Armageddon . She became one of the few characters from the game for whom a biography was released on the game's website. Like almost all the classic characters in the series, Milina appeared in the ninth fighting game of the Mortal Kombat series (2011) .
Story
Original Timeline
After the capture of Edenia, Shao Kahn adopted the daughter of King Jerrod and Queen Sindel - Princess Kitana. Her mother, Sindel, became the wife of Shao Kahn, but not for long. Unable to bear the thought that she would have to live with a tyrant who robbed her of her world and family, she committed suicide. Then Kitana was still a very small child and did not remember these events. For many years, Kitana was brought up under the care of Shao Kahn. She became one of his personal killers and implicitly obeyed the will of the emperor. But despite this, Shao Kang always feared that if Kitana found out the truth about her parents and what he had done to her world, then she would try to overthrow him. Therefore, Shao Kang ordered his chief sorcerer Shang Zong to create a twin of the princess, more loyal and more cruel than the original. To obtain the desired result, Shang Zong used not only part of Kitana’s DNA , but also part of the Tarkatans ’DNA - mutant races from the wastes of the Outer World. Because of this, an unforeseen effect occurred - the lower part of the clone's face began to look like the face of a Tarkatan - a large mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. Despite the failure and the inability to replace Kitana with this clone, Shao Kang decided to keep her alive. The clone was given the name "Milina" and Shao Kan instructed her to keep an eye on Kitana. Kitana, Milina was introduced as her sister. For many years, Milina served Shao Kang as a personal killer, along with Kitana and her friend Jade . She also became an ally (and possibly a mistress) of the leader of the Tarkatan squads - Baraki .
As Shao Kahn feared, Kitana really found out about her true origin. She continued to pretend that she was a loyal servant of the emperor, but in reality she was only waiting for the right moment to strike and overthrow the tyrant or weaken him. A convenient opportunity presented itself during the tournament in the Outer World, which Shao Kahn organized to destroy the earth fighters who defeated his soldiers in the tenth tournament of Mortal Kombat. Suspecting that Kitana was working against him, Shao Kan instructed Milina to spy on the princess. She managed to spy on how Kitana communicates with earthly warriors. Milina furiously tried to kill Kitana, but she was weaker in battle and was killed.
After this, Kitana fled from the Outer World. Shao Kang ordered Jade and Reptile to bring her back, and he decided to resurrect Milina. After her death, Milina’s soul ended up in the Underworld, whose ruler was the fallen elder god Shinnok . He allowed Shao Kan to resurrect Milina and endowed her with the ability to read Kitana’s thoughts so that he could always be one step ahead of earthly warriors. Shinnock also ordered Milina to spy on the emperor. And although Milina did not want to betray the one whom she considered her father, the fear of the fallen god was stronger. After the defeat of Shao Kahn and the failure of the invasion of the Earthly Kingdom, Shinnock recalled Milina and his other spy, Noob Saibot , who also temporarily served Shao Kan, to the Underworld, and began to prepare for war with the Elder Gods .
Due to the betrayal of Tanya , Shinnok and his main sorcerer, Kuan Chi , they managed to capture Eden easily. Kitana was sent to prison, from where Liu Kang tried unsuccessfully to free her. Milina decided to use this chance to escape from Shinnok and to avenge Kitana for her death. She helped the princess escape from the dungeon, and after the defeat of Shinnok, she clashed with Kitana in a one-on-one battle. Like last time, Milina was not strong enough to defeat Kitana. But this time Kitana spared her double and imprisoned Milina in prison, where she spent the next few years.
Salvation came to her in the person of Baraka, who, on the orders of the new lord of the Outer World and Eden, King of Onaga Dragons, freed Milina from prison and invited her to serve the new master. He also informed her that Kitana is now under Onaga’s full control and is one of his bodyguards. Milina decided that her only chance to avenge Kitana somehow was to lead the combined army of Eden and the Outer World, under the guise of a princess, and lead her to defeat. According to Onaga’s plan, Milina was to withdraw troops from the Dragon King, forcing them to chase scattered squads of Tarkatans throughout the Outer World. Thus, they, together with Baraka, had to distract the army of Eden, until Onaga found a way to make Kamidoga work, which should have made him the most powerful ruler in all worlds, stronger than even the Elder Gods.
The combined forces of the Outer World and Edenia, led by Bo'Rai Cho, successfully smashed the Tarkatan units, much more successfully than was stipulated by Onaga’s plan. After a deafening victory over them, Milina realized that at the moment she controls the most powerful army in the whole Outer World and Eden. Taking advantage of the fact that Onaga was defeated by Sudzhinko and his allies, Milina was able to completely subjugate the whole Outer World. To continue the implementation of her plans, she needed to eliminate the only one who knew about her deception - Barak. The leader of the Tarkatans, meanwhile, realized that Milina had betrayed him, and vowed to kill her. Through the Tarkatan warriors, Milina sent Baraka the news that she wanted to meet him in an abandoned beetle den. Baraka, feeling a catch, sent another Tarkatan in his place. Milina was unable to distinguish him from Baraka and killed him - Baraka learned about this from the smell of blood on her clothes. He decided to personally kill her, sending the remaining soldiers to deal with Sub-Ziro , who was nearby. How the battle of Baraki and Milina ended is not known exactly. But judging by the fact that Milina continued to carry out her plan, it can be assumed that for Baraka this fight did not end with anything good, regardless of whether he survived or not.
After that, Milina “in the name of peace” managed to capture the fortress of Shao Kahn. She decided to continue her masquerade, portraying Princess Kitana, until the Edenians were corrupted to such an extent that she could rule them without hiding under the guise of a princess. But her long-playing plans were disrupted by the return of Shao Kang, who had been considered dead all this time. Milina watched from the balcony of the palace how, together with Goro and Shan Zong, the former emperor of the Outer World crushes all the defenders of his former fortress. Milina hid in the throne room and ordered the magicians to create a protective spell on the main door. But the spell could not resist the power of Shao Kang. Having knocked out the door, Shao As entered the throne room. Two magicians tried to protect their "princess" by standing between her and the former ruler. But Milina stabbed them from behind. Then she opened her face to the stunned Shao Kang and surrendered to the emperor. Shao Kang accepted her surrender and ordered her to capture the earthly warrior Sujinko. Shao Kang planned to use it as a trump card in negotiations on an alliance with the newly resurrected Onaga. Milina sent Sudzhinko’s invitation to celebrate his heroic victory over the Dragon King and the salvation of Eden and the Outer World. She hoped that pride and pride would lead him directly into a trap. And so it happened - Reiko warriors, dressed in the form of killed Edenian soldiers, brought Sudzhinko directly to the throne room, where he faced the new Dark Alliance face to face. By order of Shao Kahn, Milina fought with an earthly warrior and defeated him with surprising ease. Then Sudzhinko was sent to the dungeon, where he was supposed to remain until Onaga appeared.
Surrendering to Shao Kan, Milina, however, absolutely did not want to continue serving the emperor. Feeling the taste of power, she decided that she was destined for a greater purpose. And although she could not rule the Outworld more, after the return of Shao Kahn, Milina decided that there are many other worlds that can be conquered. Her gaze turned to Eden ...
New Chronology
Shang Zong created many disgusting creatures in his Pits of Flesh , but not one of them was as crazy as Milina. Fused into a single whole, Edenian flesh and Tarkatan blood, Milina is at the same time a beauty and a monster. This duality made her mind unstable, prone to flashes of madness and savagery. Although outwardly she looks like an adult woman, she is more a child than an adult being, a blank sheet obeying the will of Shao Kahn. Free from conscience and regret, Milina will destroy anyone to please her beloved father.
Milina first appears in the story in the chapter of Kitana. The Princess of the Outer World finds her double in the laboratory of Shang Zong in the Pits of Flesh. Kitana finds Milina during her sleep. When the princess comes closer to look at her clone, Milina wakes up and calls Kitana a sister. Kitana is horrified at the sight of a clone monster and attacks her. The princess defeats Milina, and then her creator Shan Zong. She takes Shang Zong to Shao Kang and demands that he punish the sorcerer for vile experiments. But the emperor, unexpectedly, rejoices in the success of Shang Zong in creating a clone of his “daughter” and tells Kitana the truth about her origin, after which she demands to bring Milina to him, whom he calls his real daughter. Kitan is arrested on his orders and prepared to be executed. After a short conversation with Kitana in the Tower, Jade sets off to seek help from the Earth Warriors who are participating in the Shao Kahn tournament. Milina finds Jade in the Wasteland and demands that she return with her to the Shao Kahn Palace to celebrate her sister's “departure”. Jade defeats Milina in battle, but after the battle, earthly warriors appear, among whom is Smoke . He takes Milina for Kitana and attacks Jade, believing that she attacked their ally. Milina uses this opportunity to escape. She later appears during the tournament finale at the Coliseum.
After the victory of Liu Kang over Shao Kang, during the discussion of his successor, Baraka mentions the name of Milina, as the emperor’s only true heiress. Shang Zong responds to this that Milina exists because of his magical power. During the discussion, the resurrected Shao Kang himself appears, interrupting, thus, a debate about who should take the place of the ruler of the Outer World.
During the invasion of the earthly kingdom, Milina is discovered by Kabbalah and Stryker . Stryker believes that she is part of the forces of the invaders, while Kabal is not sure about this. Stryker approaches Milina and a battle takes place between them, the winner of which is a policeman. After Kano brought Kabbalah to the Outworld, where Shang Zong healed his wounds, Kabal forced Kano to take him to Shao Kahn's Throne Room in order to personally fight the emperor. At this moment, Milina, who accompanied the procession with the corpse of Motaro , noticed him. Noob Saibot and Milina, together, attack Kabbalah, but he manages to defeat both warriors and escape to Earth. After this, Milina no longer appears in the plot.
After the death of Shao Kahn, Milina became the ruler of the Outer World. But her military adviser, Ko'atal decided that she was not suitable for the role of ruler of the Outer World, largely because of her refusal to help the Earth Kingdom in the war against the Underworld. Kotal, along with Reptile, convinced Di'Vora to join the plot. Milina revealed Kotal's plan, but Di'Vora killed Baraka, and Yermak went over to Kotal's side and Milina was arrested and deposed. Later, Tanya helped her escape from prison. Milina gained supporters from the Tarkatans and Edenians, having also secured the support of the Rhine and tried to overthrow Kotal Kahn by force, which led to the outbreak of civil war in the Outer World.
To strengthen her position, Milina entered into an alliance with the Red Dragon and persuaded the prince of the Shokans Goro to take revenge on the usurper Kotal Kan. On the eve of the battle with Kotal Kan, Reiko convinces Milina that Goro will betray her as soon as he finishes Kotal. Milina agrees with him and says that if this happens she will personally kill him. Reiko and Milina leave the palace in the Golden Desert, leaving Goro and the Red Dragon warriors alone to deal with Kotal Kan.
Milina watches over the recovering Rhine in her secret hideout in the Setian Valley. Ermak comes to her, who reports that the army of the Shokans, not only did not defeat Kotal Kan, but she herself was defeated, thanks to the weapons of the Black Dragon. Milina decides to attack Kotal’s army, but Rein regains consciousness and says that Reiko is plotting against her together with the cleric of Chaos Hawik. Ermak can not say anything valuable about Havik. Milina decides to visit Shang Zong Island and deal with Hawik and Reiko.
Milina's ship appears on the island at the height of the battle between Reiko and Kotal Kan. She attacks Scarlet, but the golem uses her bloody shells to fight off her. The Tarkatans attack Scarlet, covering Milina, but she quickly kills them, causing the tentacles from the ground. Ermak captures Scarlet and Milina makes Brutality on her, destroying her legs. Reiko, meanwhile, almost kills Kotal Kan. Ermak brings Milo Shao Kahn's hammer to Milina, and she smashes Reiko's head with one blow. Ermak reports that Reiko is still alive. To get rid of him, Milina decides to spare Kotal and join forces with him to kill a common enemy.
Reiko is recovering, while Milina and Kotal are arguing about how to kill him. Kotal says the only way to completely kill Reiko is to force him to use blood magic to absorb his soul, and for this he must be killed again and again. Milina agrees with this plan, but says she does it only to kill Reiko, and not because she is going to follow Kotal's orders.
The healed Reiko, suddenly, attacks Milina, Kotal and Yermak, temporarily incapacitating all three. Kotal, Milina and Ermak come to their senses and immediately attack Reiko. Ermak tears his head off, Kotal cuts off his legs, and Milina tears his chest apart. Hawik appears, along with the obsessed Ryden, who attacks everyone present on the island. His attack cuts down Kotal Kan, Milina and earthly warriors. Khavik orders some fighters to be taken to Reiko's throne room, and all the rest sent to prison. Meanwhile, Di'Vora's body slowly restores her insects. In the castle, Kotal Kahn, Milina, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade and Ermak are tied to an apparatus that will have to pump blood from them to give Reiko strength and turn him into a god of blood.
After the transformation of Reiko into the God of Blood, his subsequent death and the invocation of the amulet of Shinnok, Hawik reveals his real plan - to destroy the Underworld. To do this, his servants pierce the five captured warriors, including Milina, with Kamidoga daggers, turning them into slaves of Cleric Chaos. Suddenly, Takeda appears, who, with a whip, cuts off Hawik's hand.
Takeda fights with Hawik and his warriors. At first he manages to gain upwards, over Cassie Cage and Jackie Briggs, but after he is attacked immediately by Milina, Sonya, Johnny Cage and Ryden. Hawik is preparing to destroy Takeda with the Shinnok amulet. Hawik is preparing to execute Takeda with the help of the Shinnock amulet, but a portal opens from which Di'Vora, Ferra and Torr, Erron Black and Shiva from Kintaro appear. They attack warriors controlled by Hawik. Khavik himself decides to finish off Takeda, but Scorpio appears, who tears off Hawik's head and disappears in a column of flame. Sonya, Cassie and Jackie manage to grab Kintaro and tear his head off. Almost immediately, the action of the Blood Code ends and the warriors come to their senses. Sonya apologizes to Shiva for what happened to Kintaro. Milina frees Yermak, who decides to go to the side of Kotal Kan, considering him the best candidate for the post of ruler of the Outer World.
Some time after these events, Kotal attempted to strike a deal with Kano and the supply of weapons. In fact, the deal was a trap set by Milina and Kano worked for her. On the motorcade in which the emperor rode, a detachment of Tarkatans attacked. His assistants, Ermak, Reptile, Di'Vora and Erron Black, attacked the mutants. And Kano attacked Kotal Kana. Kotal was able to fight off him and tried to kill the traitor, but Kano saved the appearance of Tanya. Fighting with her, Kotal noticed Milina and Rhine on the roof. He teleported to them, but Raine threw him off the roof. However, Kotal defeated the Prince of Eden. He ordered Erron to kill him, but Milin prevented Black. She personally entered the battle with Kotal and lost to him. Kotal wanted to execute her by howling with solar magic, but Milina used the Shinnok amulet to save her life. True, after that she lost her strength. Raine saved her by teleporting away from Kotal and his people.
Thanks to the capture of Kano in a refugee camp in the Earth Kingdom, Sonya finds out the whereabouts of Milina's camp and transmits this information to Cassie, who temporarily works with Kotalo and his assistants. Kotal sends his army and Cassie's squad to the Kuatan Jungle, along with Di'Vora. Cassie and Di'Vora penetrate the heart of the camp to steal the amulet, but are ambushed by Rhine, Tanya, and Milina. They defeat all three, capture the amulet and Milina, which lead to Kotal Kan. Kotal orders Di'Vore to execute Milina, and she gladly kills her by releasing carnivorous beetles on her.
Combat Abilities
Milina combines the grace of a silent killer and the ferocity of a furious Tarkatan. As a clone of Kitana, she has power and dexterity comparable to those of the princess, but Milina is more violent and bloodthirsty. Like all Edenians, Milina knows how to use magic in battle. She knows how to instantly move from one place to another. Unlike Kitana, her main weapon is dagger-sai. In battle, Milina also does not disdain to use her Tarkatan teeth, biting the enemy and inflicting terrible wounds on him.

Appearance in Other Media
Television
Milina appears in one of the episodes of the series Mortal Kombat: Conquest . Its origin differs from that described in the games of the series: Milina here is not a clone of Kitana, but comes from an unknown race of killers from the Outer World. Shao Kang I use my magic, gives her the face of Kitana and sends her to kill Kun Lao . The emperor warns Milina that he will take her beauty back if she fails the task. Milina, under the guise of Kitana, seduces and falls in love with Kun Lao and cannot force herself to kill him. Shao Kang, unhappy that she spent too much time, takes away part of her beauty, leaving Milina sharp teeth and an old woman's voice, making her partial ugliness even more shameful. She also receives her mask from Shao Kang, after which he orders to take her away. The role of Milina in the series was played by Megan Brown. Odi England played the role of Milina in the guise of Kitana.
Web Series
Milina appears in the series Mortal Kombat: Legacy . In this story, Milina is different from the rest of her versions. It was created by Shao Kan when Kitana was a child so that Shao Kan had a daughter who would not hate him for killing Jerrod. Because of this, Kitana and Milina do not know that they are not real sisters. Kitana and Milina grew up together under the supervision of Shao Kan, after Sindel committed suicide by relocating part of her soul to Kitana. As they grew, Shao Kang began to influence them so that they did not trust each other. Most of the time, Kitana and Milina acted not as children of the emperor, but as his loyal killers. The sisters were first sent to kill the doubles of King Jerrod, and then the real ruler of Eden in exile. Kitana first speaks with Jerrod, who, after a few seconds, is killed by Milina with a sai from behind. In this version of the MK universe, Milina has an almost normal face. Only sometimes she has a mouth like a Tarkatan, which causes Milina to flare up with wild rage. Later, scars appear on her face due to periodic deformations of the face in the mouth of the mutant. Her role in the series was played by Jolin Tran.
Movies
Milina appears in the second movie Mortal Kombat: Extermination . She is trying to kill Sonya, who takes her for Kitana - this is the only connection between the characters in the film. After Sonya kills Milina, a dragon tattoo flies out of her shoulder and disappears. Milina’s name is also not mentioned anywhere in the film, except for the credits. Her role in the film was played by Dana Hee.
Comics
Milina appears in the official Midway Mortal Kombat II comic strip, which could be ordered over the phone from an ad in an arcade machine. In the comic, she has a purely episodic role - along with the rest of the warriors from the Outer World, she attacks Johnny Cage on his set in Los Angeles.
She also appears in non-canonical comics from the publisher Malibu. One of the issues was specifically devoted to Kitana and Milina and described in detail the origin of both characters. In these comics, Milina always calls herself "the true daughter of Shao Kahn."
