Biography
Peter Fedotov was born on July 1, 1905 in the village of New Obukhovka (now in the Staroshaygovsky district of Mordovia ). After finishing ten grades of the school, he worked in agriculture. In 1927, Fedotov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1931 he graduated from the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, in 1933 - the Borisoglebsk Military Aviation School of Pilots, in 1942 - two courses of the Air Force Academy. Since October of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By March 1945, Guard Lieutenant Colonel Pyotr Fedotov commanded the 95th Guards Assault Air Regiment of the 5th Guards Assault Air Division of the 2nd Guards Assault Air Corps of the 2nd Air Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . By that time, he had made 78 sorties, in air battles he shot down 4 enemy planes. Under his leadership, the pilots of the regiment made over 3,700 sorties to attack the accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, causing him heavy losses [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 27, 1945, the Guard, Lieutenant Colonel Pyotr Fedotov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
After the war he continued his service in the Soviet Army. In 1951 he graduated from advanced training courses for officers. In 1958, the rank of Colonel Fedotov was sacked. He lived in Moscow . He died on February 2, 1988, and was buried at the Kuntsevsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
He was awarded two orders of Lenin, three orders of the Red Banner , orders of Alexander Nevsky , World War 1 and 2 degrees, the Red Star , a foreign order and a number of medals [1] .
