Biography
Haino Keiji was born on May 3, 1952 in Chiba Prefecture . Initially, the main object of his artistic interests was the avant-garde theater , but under the influence of Western rock artists such as The Doors , he turned to music and assembled an improvisational group Lost Aaraaf. Leaving Lost Aaraaf in the mid- 1970s , he collaborated with renowned Japanese progressive rock musician Magical Power Mako , and in 1978 organized a new band - Fushitsusha . The basis of the Fushitsusha repertoire was made up of lengthy psychedelic improvisations in the spirit of Les Rallizes Dénudés and the German kroutrok . The group existed from 1978 to 2000, however, like Les Rallizes Dénudés , Fushitsusha did not release official albums for a long time: their first record - Live I - appeared in 1989, and their debut studio album - Allegorical Misunderstanding - was released in 1993 on the label John Zorn Avant .
In parallel with Fushitsusha, in 1981 Keiji released his debut solo album わ た し だ け? ( Watashi dake? ). In 1998, he assembled Aihiyo, a cover band that performed classic pop and rock songs in an experimental garage - psychedelic style. Among his other groups are Vajra, Knead, Sanhedolin, Nijimu. He collaborated with musicians such as Faust , Boris , Derek Bailey , Charles Gale , Bill Laswell , Stephen O'Melly , Merzbow , Jim O'Rourke , Yamantaka Ai , Lauren Mazzakane Connors , Fred Frith and others.
Among the artists who have most influenced his development as a musician, Keiji names Yannis Xenakis , Blue Cheer , Sid Barrett and Charlie Parker .
