The company's headquarters are located in Austin ( Texas , USA ) and Lviv , Ukraine, with more than 7,000 employees working in its European and American offices. [1] SoftServe is one of the largest software companies in Central and Eastern Europe [2] and the largest outsourcing company in Ukraine [3] [4] .

History

SoftServe was founded in 1993 in Lviv, Ukraine. The company was founded by two graduate students of the National University "Lviv Polytechnic" Taras Kytsmey and Yaroslav Lyubinets [5] , and they also determined the priority direction of the company - software development. The central office of the company was founded in Lviv [2] . The first to support the company on the path to development was the Rensselir Polytechnic Institute, and the first known customer was General Electric [6] . In 2000, the company opened its first office in the United States [7] . SoftServe played an important role in creating Microsoft Bird's Eye in 2004. The same concept was later used by Google in the development of Google Street View . For his contribution to the development of the project, SoftServe was invited to speak at the annual Microsoft conference, where the company set an example of building business applications by technology corporations [7] .

In 2008, SoftServe also co-founded the Lviv Business School at the Ukrainian Catholic University [8] .

As of 2017, SoftServe was one of the largest outsourcing IT companies in Ukraine, with a staff of 4,500 employees, second only to EPAM Systems . In 2018, the number of company employees increased to 5,000.

In 2008, the company opened its US headquarters in Fort Myers, Florida. In 2014, SoftServe relocated its US headquarters from Florida to Austin, Texas. In the same year, SoftServe opened offices in London , Amsterdam , Sofia , Wroclaw and Stockholm . Also, in 2014, the company acquired the Amsterdam technical services firm Initium Consulting Group BV. [9] This company was founded in 2012 and served mainly the healthcare and private investment industries. SoftServe also acquired UGE UkrGermanEnterprise GmbH, a European IT company, and opened a new head office in Lviv. In 2017, SoftServe acquired the Polish company-developer Coders Center, which specializes in corporate content management systems and e-commerce platforms.

SoftServe has significant experience in software development in the areas of Cloud, Security, UX Design, Big Analytics, Internet of Things. The main areas for which the company develops software solutions are healthcare, retail, financial services and software.
