Biography
Nikolaev I.S., a Belarusian by nationality, was born in Klimovichi in the family of an employee and graduated from seven classes. He entered the Red Army in 1934, graduating from the Borisoglebsk Military Aviation School in 1939 [1] .
Having appeared on the front of the Great Patriotic War in November 1942, Nikolaev was the squadron commander of the 90th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment ( 4th Guards Assault Aviation Division , 5th Air Army , 2nd Ukrainian Front ). In total, on the account of the pilot, who already had the title of Major Guard, there were 135 sorties, and in 109 of them he was the leader of the groups. During these sorties, Nikolaev managed to inflict significant damage on both military equipment and enemy manpower. When performing another combat mission in the area of the village Langgot ( Czechoslovakia ) on April 11, 1945, the pilot died [1] .
May 15, 1946 Nikolaev I.S. was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumous) [1] .
