Biography
Born June 22, 1881 in Braille in a Jewish family.
Young years spent mainly in Galati . His parents were polyglot and taught their children Greek, Romanian, French, and German. The family lived in Romania until his father died of injuries sustained during anti-Semitic unrest in Galati; Konrad was 11 years old at that time .
After the death of his father, Conrad and his family moved to Paris , where he worked on the preparation of the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900 . He entered one of the universities in Paris.
After marrying the sculptor Naomi, Librescu moved to North America, first to Montreal , then to New York , where he worked on various auxiliary works and began to collaborate in Jewish newspapers. The first book in English, Crimes in Charity, was preceded by John Reed .
Konrad Berkovichi was friends and chatted with Paul Robson and his wife , Scott Fitzgerald , Ernst Hemingway , Charlie Chaplin (he, however, had legal proceedings, accused of plagiarism), Mary Pickford , Douglas Fairbanks . [one]
He died on December 27, 1961 .
