Biography
He received a medical education in his native city, in 1750 received a doctorate , after which he moved to Paris and at first received financial support from Montesquieu , since his family, who did not want to see him as a doctor, but as a priest, refused to support him.
Since 1762 , he was editor of the Journal de médecine , and in 1771 he was appointed professor at the medical faculty of the University of Paris due to his good knowledge of chemistry.
I independently studied English and translated several medical works from English into French. He was a regular visitor to the salon of Baron Holbach . He wrote two articles for the Didro Encyclopedia .
