The world championship in speed skating in the classic men's all-round 1971 was held February 13-14 at the stadium Ullevi in Gothenburg ( Sweden ). 34 athletes took part in it. For the final distance of 10,000 m, 16 best ones were allowed following the results of 3 distances. The world champion was the representative of the Netherlands Ard Schenk . He set two world records - at a distance of 10,000 meters and in the sum of all-around.
