1897 Home Nations Cup ( Eng. 1897 Home Nations Championship - 1897 Home Nations Championship ) - the fifteenth (15th) in the history of rugby home nations cup, the progenitor of the modern rugby cup of six nations . Formally, the title of the winner of the tournament was not awarded to anyone because of the scandalous withdrawal of the Wales team.

The Wales team withdrew from the tournament in protest that its main star, Arthur Gauld, was disqualified from rugby for receiving money for his performances. As a result, a number of meetings were not held.
