Format

  • The tournament consists of two stages: the preliminary round and the final round (group stage, semi-finals and final).
  • The participants of the preliminary round were 4 teams - winners of the national championships of the weakest football associations. They played in the one-round tournament held in Pago Pago from October 15 to 19, 2013 . The winner of the tournament received a direct ticket to the group stage of the OFC Champions League 2013/14.
  • 12 teams took part in the group stage (8 last season). Four associations were represented by two teams each, three associations - one team each and one place went to the winner of the preliminary round. These teams were divided into 3 groups of 4 teams each. Each group played a one-round tournament, the winner of which went to the semifinals. Another participant in the semifinal was the best of the teams that took second place in the group stage. Teams from the same association could not meet each other in matches of the same group.
  • The format of the semi-finals has not changed compared to last season: the semi-finals consisted of two matches (one team spends in the home stadium and one in the away match).
  • Regarding the final, it was also decided to return to the two-match format that existed before last season.

Members

The tournament was attended by 15 teams representing 11 football associations - members of the OFK. The four associations that showed the best results in the OFC Champions League 2012/2013 ( New Zealand , Fiji , Tahiti and Vanuatu ) received 2 places in the group stage. Three more associations ( New Caledonia , Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands ) got 1 place at the group stage. The teams of these countries were joined by the winner of the preliminary round, which was attended by representatives of four developing associations ( Samoa , Tonga , American Samoa and Cook Islands ).
