Preparing for launch
Preparations for the launch of the Progress M-23M cargo spacecraft were carried out in accordance with the approved schedule [2] [3] .
On April 3, 2014, the ship was inspected by the ship and the assembly of the space head was completed [4] . On April 4, the head unit of the Soyuz-U launch vehicle (PH) with the Progress M-23M TGC was sent for a general assembly [5] .
On April 7, in accordance with the pre-launch preparation schedule, the launch calculations of the rocket and space industry enterprises carried out operations to remove the Soyuz-U rocket from the Progress M-23M TGC to the launch complex of the site 1 of the Baikonur cosmodrome ( Gagarinsky start ) [6] .
Flight Chronicle
- April 9, 2014 at 19:26 MSK, the Progress M-23M TGC was successfully launched using the Soyuz-U launch vehicle; at 19.35 the ship was nominally separated from the third stage of the launch vehicle [7] .
- On April 10, 2014 at 01.14 Moscow time, the Progress M-23M transport cargo ship docked to the Pirs docking compartment of the Russian segment of the ISS [8] .
- July 22, 2014 at 01:44 Moscow time, the ship was undocked from the ISS. After undocking and before August 1, the Radar-Progress experiment was carried out, connected with the observation by ground-based observation of the reflective characteristics of plasma inhomogeneities generated in the ionosphere during the operation of on-board engines [9] . The experiment involved standard equipment: a propulsion system, VHF radio equipment (TORU), as well as a complex of ground-based radio observation equipment.
- On August 1, 2014, the Progress M-23M cargo ship (TGK) was derailed and flooded in the calculated area of the Pacific Ocean [10] .
