Biography
We do not have data on the childhood and youth of Alexander Kaloudis, except that he was born in 1853 on the island of Crete . For ten years (1875-1885), Kaludis studied painting in Paris , at the School of Fine Arts with Alexander Cabanel . Kaloudis exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1876, 1877, 1878 and 1880 and at the Paris World Exhibition of 1878. In 1885, Kaloudis took part in the exhibition of the Greek Society of Arts “Parnassus”. In 1886, Kaloudis settled in the Greek capital, where he was hired as a teacher at the School of Art. Kaludis taught at the School until 1916. In 1888, the artist took part in the Olympia exhibition, where he received a distinction. In 1899, he took part in the exhibition "Society of Friends of the Arts" and in 1900, Kaludis exhibited his work at the exhibition "Art Union". He also took part in an exhibition in Egyptian Alexandria in 1903. Kaludis is best known as a still life artist, in the manner of academic realism, and also as a portrait painter [1] [2] [3] . The disciple of Kaloudis was the contemporary Greek artist Vasiliu, Spyros [4] . Alexandros Kaloudis died in Athens in 1923.
