Sergey Fedoseevich Semenov ( 1914 - 1988 ) - senior sergeant of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army , a participant in the Great Patriotic War , full holder of the Order of Glory .

Biography
Sergei Semenov was born on September 20, 1914 in the village of Bolshoye Grebenino (now the Gagarinsky district of the Smolensk region ). After graduating from four grades of school, he worked on a collective farm .
In 1936 - 1939 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Demobilized, he worked as a carpenter on a collective farm in his homeland.
In August 1941, Semenov was re-drafted into the army and sent to the front of World War II. He was wounded twice in battles [1] .
By July 1944, Senior Sergeant Sergei Semenov commanded mortar crews of the 820th Infantry Regiment of the 117th Infantry Division of the 69th Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . On July 25, 1944, the calculation of Semenov destroyed the machine-gun point, which prevented the advance of the Soviet infantry. September 4, 1944 Semenov was awarded the Order of Glory 3rd degree [1] .
On January 21, 1945, during the assault on Poznan, Semenov’s calculation destroyed several machine gun points and more than 10 enemy soldiers and officers. March 9, 1945 Semenov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree [1] .
On April 16, 1945, in the battles on the Oder north of Frankfurt an der Oder, the calculation of Semenov destroyed 2 machine-gun points. During the subsequent offensive, he provided great support to the infantry units. On April 23, 1945, in a battle on the Spree River, Semyonov and his comrades destroyed 1 machine gun near the infantry squad [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 31, 1945, for “courage, bravery and heroism shown in the struggle against the German invaders,” Senior Sergeant Sergei Semenov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree with the number 1842 [1] .
After the war, Semenov was demobilized. He lived and worked first in his homeland, then in Gagarin . He died on November 17, 1988, was buried in the Moscow cemetery of Gagarin [1] .
He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
