Biography
Konstantinos Panorios was born on the island of Sifnos in 1857 . He studied painting at the Athens School of Art, the forerunner of the Athens School of Fine Arts, which he graduated in 1878 . After completing his studies in Athens in 1879, he left for Munich to continue his studies at the Munich Academy of Arts . Panorios exhibited at the Greek Olympia exhibition in 1875 and at the exhibitions of the Munich Art Society in 1882 and 1883 . The artist returned to Greece in 1891 , but, already mentally ill, retired to the village of Castro on the island of Sifnos . Panorios died the following 1892 in Athens. Despite the fact that due to his illness and early death, the artist left behind a limited number of works, Panorios is recognized as one of the characteristic representatives of the Munich school of Greek painting .
Some art historians believe that Panorios was influenced by the German artist Franz von Lenbach , others believe that the work of Panorios, mainly full-length portraits, has its own character and stands out for its visual power [1] [2] .
