Biography

Nikolai Pecheny was born on February 15, 1919 in the village of Belogorodka (now the Kiev-Svyatoshinsky district, Kiev region). He studied at the school, which he graduated in 1931. After school, he continued his studies at FZU . He got a job as a mechanic and a plumber at the Leninsky Forge factory.

Since 1937 he was drafted into the Red Army . He was trained in the army at the Odessa Aviation School , which Nikolai Nikolaevich graduated in 1938.

Since August 1942, he took part in the battles of the Great Patriotic War , during which he fought on the Transcaucasian Front, the North Caucasus Front and the 2nd Belorussian Front. By May 9, 1945 made 219 successful sorties, conducted 88 air battles, shot down 20 German planes in person and 3 in the group [2] .

The squadron commander of the 42nd Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 269th Fighter Air Division of the 4th Air Army of the 2nd Belorussian Front, Guard Major Nikolai Nikolaevich Pecheny for courage by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR dated May 15, 1946 was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 8097) [1] .

After the victory, N. N. Pecheny continued to command the aviation regiment. After some time, Nikolai Nikolayevich enrolled in higher flight tactical courses and, after graduation, commanded a military unit. In 1957 he went to the reserve with the rank of colonel and lived in Kiev . He died on December 24, 1995.
