M27 ( eng. Link, M27 ) - inventory designation of a metal detachable cartridge strip for 5.56 Γ 45 mm NATO ammunition in the US Army equipment range.
Description
This type of cartridge belt is intended for storing and supplying ammunition when firing from all types of full-time automatic weapons with a tape feed of 5.56 Γ 45 mm NATO caliber (usually for infantry light machine guns ). Originally created under the Stoner machine guns during the Vietnam War , it was later adapted for the M249 SAW machine guns. In fact, it is a reduced copy of the cartridge belt M13 to a single machine gun M60 .
