Ural (song)

The emergence of the song dates back to the XIV-XVI centuries. The old name of the song “Ete yryu” (“Seven Clans”) is associated with the formation in the 13th century of a union of seven Bashkir tribes in the southeastern part of Bashkortostan . During the Bashkir uprisings of the XVIII century , the topics of protection of the native land, embodied in the image of the Urals, the glorification of the Batyrs became relevant.

The same theme is devoted to other versions of the song “Ural”, known under the name “Boroncho Ural” (“Ancient Ural”), “Ike Ural” (“Ancient Ural”. All of them have different texts and tunes of melodic styles halmak-kuy and uzun- kyu.

Lyrics of the song “Ural” were first recorded in 1915 and 1920 by M. Burangulov from folk singers Aflyatun from the village of Sabyrovo, Orsky district, Orenburg province and Gabit-sesen Argynbaev .

In the 30s of the XX century, the song "Ural" was recorded on a phonograph and notated by I. V. Saltykov , A. S. Klyucharyov , L. N. Lebedinsky .
