Kondakov, Boris Vadimovich

In 1976 he graduated from the philological faculty of Perm State University; student of professor R.V. Komina . Since that year, he has been working at the Department of Russian Literature, where he teaches courses in the history of Russian literature of the 11th-19th centuries.

In 1979-1982, he was a graduate student of the Department of Literature Theory of Moscow State University (scientific adviser is P. A. Nikolaev, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences). In 1983 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of philological sciences ("The image of the reader in the system of artwork"). Since 1990 - Associate Professor at the Department of Russian Literature, Faculty of Philology, Perm University.

In 1993-1996, he was a doctoral candidate at the Department of Russian Literature and Folklore of Ural State University (scientific consultant was Professor G. K. Schennikov ). The thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philology (“Russian Literary Process of the 1880s”) was defended in 1997.

Since September 20, 1997 - head of the department of Russian literature, since 1998 - dean of the Faculty of Philology of PSU (PSNIU) ^[4] . Head of the Perm Regional Department of the Professorial Assembly (since 2017) ^[5] .

At the plenary meeting of the All-Russian Scientific Conference held at Perm University on April 6, 2012, he read a report under the provocative title “The End of Philology”, which stated that philology is losing its former meaning and is changing in its functions ^[6] . The report, which was held in a crowded audience, the largest of the faculty audiences, had a wide resonance, caused a lot of controversy, criticism from the more traditionally-minded part of the faculty, as well as the support and approval of many students and teachers.

Son Anton (born 1984) is an entrepreneur.

Research interests: literature theory , the history of Russian literature of the second half of the XIX century, Russian literature in the context of culture.

Participation in international projects

Organization of interaction under cooperation agreements in the field of educational and scientific activities between Perm State University and universities in the People’s Republic of China ^[7] , the Republic of Slovenia , the Republic of Hungary , the Republic of Macedonia , Israel , as well as other universities (organization of training for foreign students, preparation of joint issues scientific collections and publications in journals, development of teacher development programs).
