Election Results
The ruling Socialist Party of Serbia Slobodan Milosevic won the election for the third time in a row. Unlike previous elections, the socialists managed to increase their representation in the Assembly . However, in order to get the absolute majority of the seats in the Socialist Party’s parliament, it was necessary to form a coalition government again, this time along with the New Democracy party , which left the Democratic Movement of Serbia coalition for which it participated in the elections.
