M13 ( eng. Link, M13 ) - inventory designation of metal detachable (loose) cartridge tape in the nomenclature of equipment of the US Army .
Description
This type of cartridge belt is intended for storage and supply of ammunition when firing from all types of full-time automatic weapons with tape power (as a rule - for single machine guns ). The tape was introduced in the middle of the 20th century for the US Armed Forces , then it became widespread as a single standard among all countries of the North Atlantic alliance . Originally designed for the caliber of 7.62 × 51 mm NATO ; later, a similar version for the 5.56 × 45 mm NATO cartridge received the designation M27 . In western Germany it is known as DM-13 .
