Sporting Achievements
Born and permanently resides in Stavropol. He began to engage in sports direction finding in 1988 at the age of 10 years. To achieve maximum results, he is actively involved in related sports ( orienteering , horning ).
In 1994, Roman, according to the results of the qualifying competitions, was for the first time included in the Russian national team to participate in the 7th World Championship. In general, the World Cup was a success. On the first day of the competition, Roman began to count his medals - as part of the team (Roman Karachentsev, Dmitry Timchenko, Roman Gubarev) the first medal (“bronze”) was won. On the second day at 3.5 MHz, Roman took second place. I had to wait 2 years for a gold medal.
In 1996, the first gold medal was won at the 11th European Championships in Bulgaria in a difficult fight, together with their teammates - Roman Karachentsev and Andrey Morozov [1] .
The 8th 1997 World Cup was very productive. Having won one gold and two silver awards, Roman completed his junior career [2] .
Already in the next 1998, Roman made his debut in the men's category and, according to the results of the All-Russian qualifying competitions, took second place and was selected for the Russian national team for participation in the 9th World Championship. It was at this World Cup that Roman won a very significant and expensive medal. The Russian team (composition: Sharshenov, Baktybek Chyngyshbaevich , Panchenko Evgeny Ivanovich and Gubarev Roman Nikolaevich) in the difficult fight took first place in the 3.5 MHz band, ahead of the very strong Czech team by a few seconds. At this World Cup, Roman also won two more silver medals [3] .
In 2004, Gubarev Roman graduated from the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of SKFU .
Military Service
From 1998 to 2008, Roman Gubarev served under contract in the Army Sports Club of the North Caucasian Military District of Stavropol. It was the ability to serve in the army that influenced his athletic longevity and professional approach to training.
From 2009 to 2011, Roman Gubarev joined the Stavropol Military Missile Force Communications Institute (SVIS RV) . At the new duty station, Roman continued to play sports. In 2011, by order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation A.E. Serdyukov, the SVIS RV was disbanded. At this military service Gubarev Roman ended.
Awards and titles
On October 13, 2010, by order of the Minister of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy, Gubarev Roman was awarded the honorary title - Honored Master of Sports of Russia [4] .
In 2001, by order of the commander of the North Caucasian Military District, he was awarded the distinction "For Service in the Caucasus."
Interesting Facts
At the 16th World Championship in Serbia (2012), Roman won 4 medals [5] . The last time among Russian (Soviet) athletes in a group of men at the World Championships was such an achievement in 1986 at the 3rd World Championship, held in Yugoslavia. It was in 1986, the most titled athlete in the history of sports radio direction finding in Russia and the USSR - Vladimir Chistyakov became the absolute World Champion, having won 4 medals. [6]

Currently (2014), most of the time is spent on work not related to sports, but despite this, Roman is preparing for the sports season and plans to speak at the 17th World Championship, which will be held in September in Kazakhstan.
