Biography
Jiang Ying was born in 1898 in the city of Kunshan in the territory of Jiangsu Province. He studied at the Nanjing Forestry University, which he graduated in 1925 .
After the opening of the University of Guangzhou in Guangdong in 1924, botanical processing of the southern Chinese provinces of Guangdong and Hainan was initiated. As part of this, from 1927 to 1929 Jiang Ying repeatedly made expeditions to Guangdong, along with Chen Huanyang .
Jiang taught at Anqing Teachers College, Zhongshan University, Guangxi University and Lingnan University. Subsequently, he was a professor at South China Agricultural University and Guangdong Forestry College. For several years he worked as director of the herbarium of the Chinese Academy .
On March 6, 1982, Jiang Ying passed away.
Jiang Ying was the honorary president of the Chinese Botanical Society. He has worked for the important series of botanical monographs Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae . Jiang was the author of sections in this series, as well as Flora Yunnanica , dedicated to the Kutrovy , Annonovye and Lastovnevy families .
