Biography
Alexey Nemkov was born on March 30, 1919 in Dzhankoy . After graduating from eight grades of the school, he worked as an assistant secretary of the Dzhankoy district committee of the CPSU (b). In 1939, Nemkov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since September 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. In 1943 he graduated from the courses of company commanders [1] .
By April 1945, Captain Alexei Nemkov was deputy battalion commander of the 118th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 37th Guards Rifle Division of the 65th Army of the 2nd Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the forcing of the Oder . On April 20, 1945, Nemkov, at the head of the assault detachment, was the first to cross the Oder in the vicinity of the village of Kolbitsov (now Kolbaskovo south of Szczecin ) and the first to break into the enemy’s trench and took an active part in the seizure of the bridgehead. At the critical moment of the battle, Nemkov replaced the out-of-command battalion commander and organized the holding of the bridgehead, he himself was wounded, but continued to fight [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, for “exemplary fulfillment of command assignments and shown courage and heroism in battles with the German invaders” of the guard, Captain Alexei Nemkov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 5572 [1] .
After the war, Nemkov was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked at home. He died on March 29, 1972, was buried in Dzhankoy [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , Bohdan Khmelnitsky 3rd degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
