Biography

Leopold Nekrasov was born on July 23, 1923 in Moscow . The son of the famous geologist Boris Petrovich Nekrasov , repressed in 1937. He graduated from high school. In September 1941, Nekrasov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front of the Great Patriotic War. In 1943, Nekrasov graduated from the Moscow machine-gun and mortar school [1] .

By April 1945, Captain Leopold Nekrasov commanded a mortar company of the 248th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 83rd Guards Rifle Division of the 11th Guards Army of the Belarusian Front . He distinguished himself during the battles in East Prussia . On the night of April 25-26, 1945, at the head of the advance detachment, Nekrasov crossed the bay to the Frishe-Nerung Spit (now the Baltic Spit ) and attacked the enemy from the rear, destroying 8 firing points and more than 300 soldiers and officers. Having gained a foothold in captured positions, Nekrasov’s detachment repelled the German counterattacks for two hours, holding out until the main forces approached. In that battle, Nekrasov died. Nekrasov and the Komsomol Kolesov were buried on the outskirts of the German village of Kaddich-Haken, 50 meters from the highway leading to Pillau [2] [3] . He was buried in a mass grave in the city of Baltiysk, Kaliningrad Region [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, Captain Leopold Nekrasov was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Orders of Lenin , the Red Banner , World War 1 and 2 degrees, two orders of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
