Biography
Nikolay Nevgodovskiy was born on December 24, 1923 in the village of Frunze (now - within the city of the Dnieper ). After completing seven classes of school and factory apprenticeship, he worked as a mechanic at the factory. In August 1943, Nevgodovskiy was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since October of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By April 1944, Red Army soldier Nikolai Nevgodovskiy was a rifleman of the 429th rifle regiment of the 52nd rifle division of the 57th army of the 3rd Ukrainian front . Distinguished during the crossing of the Dniester . On the night of April 12 , 13, 1944, Nevgodovskiy crossed the Dniester near the village of Bychok of the Grigoriopol district of the Moldavian SSR and, having reached the enemy machine-gun, destroyed his calculation. Later, during the fighting for the bridgehead, Nevgodovskiy with two comrades blew up the enemy bunker [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 13, 1944 for "courage, bravery and heroism shown in the struggle against the German invaders", Red Army man Nikolai Nevgodovskiy was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 3472 [1 ] .
After the war Nevgodovsky continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1949 he graduated from the Smolensk military-political school, in 1957 - the Military-Political Academy . In 1969, the rank of colonel Nevgodovskiy was dismissed. Lived in Khmelnitsky . He died on March 28, 1986 , buried in Khmelnitsky [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st degree, Red Star , Glory 3rd degree, a number of medals [1] .
