Biography

Vladimir Nalivaiko was born on January 22, 1922 in Sochi . Since 1933, he and his family lived in Moscow , where he graduated from high school and the industrial design college. At the beginning of the war he was sent to evacuation to Sverdlovsk , worked at a research institute. In 1942, Nalivaiko was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In the same year he graduated from the Sverdlovsk Infantry School. Since 1942 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By March 1945, Captain Volodymyr Nalyvaiko commanded a battalion of the 1318th Infantry Regiment of the 163rd Infantry Division of the 27th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . Distinguished himself during the Balaton operation . The Nalivaiko battalion held the defenses on the embankment of the narrow gauge railway, reflecting German tank counterattacks. March 15, 1945, on the eighth day of defense, the enemy launched a powerful attack with tanks, but the battalion managed to repel it at the cost of heavy losses, destroying a large number of enemy military vehicles. Less than half of the personnel remained in the battalion. The next morning, the Nalivaiko battalion stormed the farm, capturing 2 armored personnel carriers, 1 tank, and about 10 enemy soldiers and officers [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 28, 1945, for "exemplary performance of command missions on the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism" captain Vladimir Nalyvaiko was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 4959 [1] .

After the war, Nalivaiko continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1950, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Moscow. He died on February 26, 1997, was buried at the Nikolo-Arkhangelskoye cemetery in Moscow [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of Kutuzov of the 3rd degree and two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, a number of medals [1] .
