Biography
He was educated at the Berlin Academy of Arts , where his mentor was E. Mandel; perfected in Italy , in 1863 , and in Munich , in 1864 - 1866 . He engraved quite a few prints made with great taste and dexterity, both with a chisel and pencil style.
According to “ESBE”, the best of his engravings are “Salvator Rose” from his own portrait of this painter, “Isis” by Kaulbach in the New Berlin Museum, “Adelgeida plays chess with the Bishop of Bamberg”, “Gretkhen before the statues of Madonna” and “Steppe Rose ”from Kaulbach's“ Women's Goethe Types ”,“ Twilight ”from Shpangenberg,“ Fatherly Admonition ”from Terborch and several small portraits.
