Dreichichi

Dreichichi ( Serb. Dra Дčiјi / Drajčići ; Alb. Drajçiq ) is a village in southern Metohija . It belongs to the Prizren community of the Prizren district [~ 1] both in the administrative-territorial division of the autonomous region of Kosovo and Metohija (as part of Serbia ), and in the administrative-territorial division of the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo .

General information

The population according to 2011 is 115 people (of which 70 are men, 81 are women) [3] .

The village of Dreichichi is located in the historical region of Sredska упupa [4] , the majority of the inhabitants of the village are representatives of the Islamized South Slavic ethnic group of sreds (упuplans) , who mainly identify with the Bosnian ethnic group - in the 2011 census, 95 people indicated their ethnicity as Bosnian, 28 people indicated Albanian , 26 - Serbian . Bosnian (120 people, including some of the ethnic Albanians), Serbian (26 people) and Albanian (5 people) were indicated as the native language by the inhabitants of the village of Dreichichi. According to the 2011 census, the citizens of Kosovo are the absolute majority of the villagers - 150 people. Most of the inhabitants of the village of Dreichichi are Muslims (125 people), the smaller part are Orthodox Christians (26 people) [3] .

Geographical position

The village of Dreichichi is located on the northern slopes of the Shar Planina massif. The closest to the village of Dreichichi is the Albanian village of Mushnikovo (approximately two kilometers to the north-east), the Sredchan village of Verkhnee Lubin (two kilometers to the south-west) and the Serbian village of Sredska (two kilometers to the north-west).

Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

In the village of Dreichichi there is the Church of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker, built at the end of the 16th century, with preserved frescoes, an iconostasis and an altar dating from the 16th – 17th centuries [7] .
