Shestakov, Vasily Borisovich

He studied and graduated from school No. 330 in Leningrad. He studied judo and sambo in the section at the school under the guidance of Vladimir Fedorovich Romanenko. Then he continued his sambo and judo classes in the Trud society under the guidance of A. S. Rakhlin, together with V. V. Putin , B. R. Rotenberg , A. R. Rotenberg ^[2] .

He was the champion of the USSR championship in sambo in 1973 ( Kazan ), the repeated winner of the USSR championships in judo and sambo, the silver winner of the youth Judo Games in 1974 ( Gorky , USSR).

After graduating from school in 1970, he entered the Higher Technical Educational Institution at the Leningrad Metal Plant named after the XXII Congress of the CPSU . He graduated in 1976 , having received a higher education in mechanical engineering with a degree in "foundry machinery and technology " ^{[3] [4]} .

Coaching

He began his coaching activities in 1977 at the Comprehensive School of Higher Sports Mastery of Leningrad as a trainer and teacher. During his coaching career, he trained 15 masters of sports, took part in the preparation of the Leningrad national team for the championships and championships of the USSR, sports and athletics of the peoples of the USSR, where the national team won prizes ^[5] . His pupil, Tagir Abdullaev, is an honored master of sports , one of the strongest sambo wrestlers in the world, one of the best judokas in Europe in the 1980s and 90s.

In 1993, at the initiative of VB Shestakov, the regional Budo Martial Arts Federation was organized, which became part of the World Kobudo Federation (WKF) ^[7] . In 1993, Shestakov was elected the national director of the World Kobudo Federation (WKF) for Russia.

From 1993 to the present, he is president of the St. Petersburg Sports Federation of Jiu-Jitsu Budo . In 2002, on his initiative, the Russian Jiu-Jitsu Federation was created, which he headed from the day of its foundation until 2013. He is currently the honorary president of this federation.

One of the founders of the Yavara-Neva Judo Sports Club (St. Petersburg), the club’s honorary president is Russian President Vladimir Putin , and the club’s general director is Arkady Rotenberg .

Under the leadership of Vasily Shestakov, the International Sambo Federation has become a full-fledged participant in the global sports movement.
