Chvanov, Victor Timofeevich

Biography

Chvanov V. T., Russian by nationality, was born in the village of Samara-Raditsa [2] [3] now in the city of Bryansk . In 1933 he graduated from the school of FZU (now the Bryansk College of Engineering and Road Transport named after Hero of the Soviet Union M. A. Afanasyev) in the city of Bryansk with a degree in Turner [4] . He lived and worked part of the time in Moscow , in 1936 he joined the ranks of the Red Army (Navy). He studied at the naval aviation school, which he graduated in 1940. Subsequently, in 1944, he also graduated from the Higher Courses for Advanced Training of the Navy Air Force Officers [1] .

Since June 1941, being part of the army, Chvanov V.T. was the navigator of the 1st Guards mine and torpedo aviation regiment of the 8th mine and torpedo aviation division of the Baltic Fleet Air Force . Chvanov, with the rank of senior lieutenant guard and 199 sorties over his shoulders (by August 1944), participated in the sinking of six enemy transports.

July 22, 1944 Chvanov V. T. was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union [1] .

Captain V.T. Chvanov died on August 9, 1944. He was buried in St. Petersburg at the Smolensk Orthodox Cemetery [1] .

Memory

School 15 of the village of Raditsa-Krylovka , where Chvanov was born, is named after the Hero.
