History
The decision to create a museum in the Nenets National District was made at a meeting of the Presidium of the Okrug Executive Committee in late 1929 . The decision was made in connection with the "especially important, social and scientific significance of local history work in the conditions of the little studied Nenets okrug"
A room was allocated for the museum in the okrplan’s premises, in the village of Telviska, Mikhail Bazykin, technical secretary of the regional bureau of local history, was appointed the museum’s head. The museum was run okrono. An article in the district newspaper “ Nyaryana vyder ” describes the first exhibits of the museum brought by Bazykin from a business trip to the village of Velikovisochnoe . These were "bows, self-arrows, treadmills, self-sticks, flint walruses, hats and other miscellaneous accessories from the decorations of the rich pripechorsky."
1930s and 40s
At the end of 1932, in connection with the relocation of the local executive committee from Telviski to Naryan-Mar, museum exhibits were also taken out to the new capital of the okrug and piled in okrono. The question of organizing the museum was again raised at a meeting of the presidium of the district executive committee on October 28, 1932 . A member of the regional bureau of local history, N.F. Plettsov, was “entrusted with developing a program and organizing a museum for the 3-year anniversary of the okrug.” From January 15 to January 23, 1933, in the two rooms on the second floor, in the still unfinished House of Nenets, the 1st district exhibition dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the October Revolution and the 3rd anniversary of the Nenets District was held . The exhibition presented several sections: general, history, life, culture, fishing and hunting, transport and communications, industry. In total, about 100 objects were exhibited. The participants of the exhibition were enterprises and institutions of the Nenets National District, the employee of the staff of the Olenskhoz Richter was taking into account and systematizing the exhibits. The exhibition was visited by over 5 thousand people.
After the exhibition, the exhibits were in different places. In the end, they were dumped into a “boardwalk construction site”, where “they were not packed under snow and rain penetrating the roof, lying with various rubbish, like scrap iron and barrels.” Part of the exhibits was lost. Paper material, cult books, photographs, a model of coral, fishing tackle, shop windows were damaged by dampness, cans with zoo exhibits were broken or burst from frost. All this was revealed as a result of an audit on March 22, 1934, carried out on the basis of a proposal by Kraiono by a local historian, employee of the North Committee B.K. Lander, okrono chairman A. A. Fedorov and newly appointed acting museum director M. I. Molodtsova .
Since taking over the position of the head of the museum, Maria Ivanovna Molodtsova, work has begun on the systematization of collections, but the demonstration of all exhibits in the premises provided to the museum was impossible. The museum was located in a room of 20 m² in which "it is damp and cold, there is no stove and winter frames, rain and dust from neighboring renovated rooms freely penetrate door slots."
In September 1934 , the Naryan-Mar City Council vacated a 60 m² room on the 1st floor of the Nenets House for the museum. On September 6, 1934, an exhibition of polar plant growing was opened. It is this date - the opening of the museum for visits - is celebrated now as the date of creation of the Nenets Regional Museum of Local Lore.
