Game career

Matt Moulson was selected in the ninth round of the 2003 draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins Club. On September 1, 2006, he signed his first contract with the NHL club, the Los Angeles Kings . Moulson made his debut for Los Angeles on November 2, 2007 in a match against San Jose Sharks , in which he scored an abandoned goal against Evgeni Nabokov [3] . In total for the “kings", Moulson played 29 matches in two years, in which he scored 10 points (6 + 1).

On July 6, 2009, Moulson, as a free agent, moved to the New York Islanders , with whom he signed a one-year contract [4] . At Islanders, Moulson immediately became one of the leaders of the attack, scoring over 30 goals for three consecutive seasons. Over his entire career at Isles, Matt was certainly one of the top three team snipers, twice taking first place in this regard. Following the 2011/12 season, Moulson was nominated for two league awards - Lady Bing Trophy [5] and a charity prize [6] . A year later, he was again nominated for a Lady Bing prize, but again could not win it, taking third place in the vote [7] [8] .

On October 27, 2013, the Islanders exchanged Moulson and two picks in the draft (first round in 2014 and second in 2015 ) at Buffalo Sabers for the Austrian striker Thomas Vanek [9] .

In the NHL exchange deadline on March 5, 2014, Moulson and striker Cody McCormick moved to Minnesota in exchange for striker Torrey Mitchell and two draft picks in the second round (in 2014 and in 2016 ) [10] [11] . At the end of the season, he signed a 5-year contract with Buffalo for $ 25 million, $ 11 million of which was a signing bonus.

In the 2017/18 season, after 14 matches in which he did not score a single point, Sabers was put up for a rejection draft and, having passed it, was sent to the AHL at Ontario Rain .
