Yalta Bay is a bay in the northern part of the Black Sea [2] .

Description
It extends to the southern coast of the Crimean peninsula for 3 km. The width at the entrance is about 13 km. The maximum depth is over 75 m. From the west, the bay is bounded by Cape Ai-Todor [2] , about 90 meters high. From the east, the bay is bordered by Cape Nikitin [2] . Cape John and Montodor stand out on the coast of the bay. The shores are rocky, steep [2] .
On the northwestern coast of the bay is a resort city of Yalta , from the name of which it takes the name of the bay. On the bay there is the Yalta port and the Yalta commercial sea port , many boarding houses and resorts [2] .
History
On October 12, 2016, the ASPTR-1 floating crane, which carried out work at the port of the Artek International Children's Center , sank at night in the area of the village of Livadia , 4 kilometers from the coast. The ship moved from the village of Gurzuf in the direction of Sevastopol. On board was a crew of eight people. Five crew members were rescued, searches for three people were continued. Rescue operations involving aviation and hundreds of rescuers were hampered by a four-point storm. The saved were delivered to Balaklava Bay . Three of the missing were later declared dead. [3]
